About Wokingham & East Berkshire Camera Club

Wokingham and East Berkshire Camera Club (WEBCC) provides for its members, a rich mix of competitions, (both for prints and Projected Digital Images), workshops, lectures and field trips. All skill levels are catered for and the club welcomes photographers with a range of experience - from complete beginners, looking to learn from other members - to seasoned photographers.

The club’s activities are aimed at the enthusiast and as such, it does not offer photographic tuition. The club experience allows members to learn from interaction with other members and from hearing an unbiased judge’s comments on not only ones own work but also that of others. However, practical evenings are often provided during the photographic year on subjects such as portrait photography. Besides those relatively new to photography the club has many experienced members and several have achieved the LRPS distinction and three are Southern Photographic Federation judges. WEBCC is a member of the Federation and participates in a number of inter-club competitions using members' work.

Membership

If you are looking to join a local camera club, WEBCC membership has the right mix of friendly informality together with a high level of technical skills. Prospective members are welcome to come along to any meeting to learn more about the club and see if it is right for them. Enquiries about membership should be directed to either the Chairman or the Hon Secretary, preferably by email (see contact list below). Alternatively, they may simply come to one of the meetings which are held on the second and fourth Thursday in the month from September to June. Non members may come to two meetings on payment of the door fee of £1 before deciding whether they wish to take up membership.

History

Whilst the club is relatively new to Wokingham, it was formed much earlier in 1989 as the East Berkshire Photographic Society and operated for many years in the Bracknell area. The Society's move to Wokingham took place in 2005 and coincided with the opening of the Cornerstone building of All Saints Church. In 2006 the Society changed its name to the current one. The move to Wokingham has proved popular and there has been a growth in the club's membership.
