An illustrated talk by Rod Bird entitled “Scaling the Thames”Before the main event of the evening, the audience gave a very warm welcome to three new members: - Rachel McNiven
- Jim Williamson
- Philip Hayman
We hope all three enjoy their membership and we look forward to their active participation in the club’s activities. Despite a bitterly cold and snowy evening, WEBCC members enjoyed another good turnout for Rod Bird’s presentation “Scaling the Thames”. Rod, from Maidenhead, gave an interesting presentation featuring images covering his walk from the Thames Estuary to its source near Cricklade in Gloucestershire, some 215 miles across six counties. Rod, an experienced landscape photographer and member of Maidenhead CC runs his own photographic training company ‘Electric Landscape’ which provides one to one and group training for photographers locally in Maidenhead as well as interesting locations such as the Brecon Beacons and the Peak District in Derbyshire. Our social evening started with food and drinks being served and this was followed by a talk by guest speaker David Hunt. David’s presentation “Half a Century of Photography”
The talk covered a range from very early photographs (brought up to date with digital technology) to recent ones, picking out a few subjects that have interested David over the years. The talk included some comparison of the old and new technologies and how images can now be manipulated in the computer.
